Lego Star Wars: Terrifying Tales

It's the start of spooky season and even though we are a few weeks away from Halloween we can still watch and talk about Halloween themed shows, movies and shorts. Lego has brought us some pretty good content and I actually like their movies! From "The Lego Movie" in 2017, "The Lego Batman Movie" also in 2017 to their iconic video games, Lego has it going on right now! A very recent Lego short is out now on Disney+ and it's called "Lego Star Wars: Terrifying Tales" and yes, I did watch this! Let's review!

As I mentioned above, I enjoy the Lego projects and I will gladly tell you it's because they're silly and fun t watch. They aren't supposed to be these award winning projects, but they are honestly really fun to just press play and relax. If you have children then these are great movies to watch together and hang out. Star Wars: Terrifying Tales is exactly that and a little more. Is this short scary at all?....it's Lego so no, but it does have this "Here's Johnny" from "The Shining" poster which is a nice detail. Let's start with the voice actors/actresses from this short:

  • Jake Green as Poe Dameron

  • A.J. LoCascio as Han Solo

  • Barbra Goodson as Mother Talzin

  • Christian Slater as Ren

  • Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt

  • Danny Jacobs as Ramm/Watt/Protocol Droid

  • David Acord as Medical Droid/Rebel Pilot

  • Eric Bauza as Luke Skywalker/Guard Droid

  • Matt Sloan as Darth Vader

  • Matthew Wood as Ben Solo/General Grevious/ Battle Droids

  • Raphael Aejandro as Dean

  • Tony Hale as Vanee

  • Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine

  • Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8

  • James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan/Cozler

First off, it's Star Wars so that's an automatic plus in my books! In all seriousness, I enjoyed the call backs to past Star Wars moments and they also threw in some curve balls with some stories as well! The entire story was based on facing your fears and defeating them. We get to follow Poe Dameron around as he finds this new hotel for everyone in the galaxy to stay at that is in honor of Darth Vader. See, it's silly but lets continue. Poe's main mission is to fix his X-Wing and get off this planet, so he needs help. He finds the help in the form of a kid named Dean who living as kind of a slave working for Graballa the Hutt as his mechanic. They meet this evil guy named Vanee which was Vader's loyal savant at one time. There Vanee tells them about all these "scary" and "creepy" tales from a galaxy far far away. Overall, I enjoyed the story as it just tells you that things can be scary and different but if you continue to be yourself and face the darkness, you can do anything! The message is nice and genuine which makes it a good watch.

This is the part where I tell you my dislikes and honestly, I don't have many! If I absolutely had to pick some, I'd say the length was a bit short as it was only 45 minuets long and it would've been better at an hour. But that's about it for my dislikes of this short and I mean, I'm not going to be super critical on a Lego style short that is Halloween themed and really is probably for kids.

Overall, I thought this short was fun and silly and really shouldn't be criticized for what it's worth. I think if you like Star Wars, Lego or just silly movies then you will like this Halloween short. "Lego Star Wars: Terrifying Tales" gets a 7/10!
